Dancehall star, Shatta Wale, has jumped to the defense of businessman Kofi Boat following reports of his arrest by the FBI over an alleged $100 million fraud scheme.
Kofi Boat was reportedly arrested alongside two others identified as Agony and a third unnamed accomplice, sparking widespread media coverage and public speculation. The trio is alleged to be involved in a large-scale financial fraud investigation currently being handled by U.S. authorities.
Reacting to the development in an emotional Facebook live session on June 19, Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah, denied the claims and said Kofi Boat, whom he described as his “godfather,” is innocent.
Visibly moved to tears, the musician defended Kofi Boat, insisting that the situation stemmed from a failed business deal rather than intentional fraud.
“God, if you are there, make people know that Kofi Boat is not a scammer,” he pleaded during the live session. “Mama Joyce, I’m sorry. I feel bad, Charlie. Because of Kofi, I can’t even sleep.”
Shatta Wale further expressed sympathy for Kofi Boat’s family, especially his wife and children, saying he couldn’t imagine the pain they were going through.
“Who told you Kofi Boat is a scammer?” he questioned. “It’s just a business that went wrong. Do you think Kofi Boat will sit behind a computer and browse people’s money? No!”
