A scene during the donation
KOKROKOO CHARITIES, with support from the Good Causes Foundation of the National Lotteries Authority (NLA), has donated a new incubator to the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital, in Mampong, the Akuapem North District of the Eastern Region.
The donation brings to two the total number of incubators in the hospital to help save the lives of preterm babies.
Founder of Kokrokoo Charities, Kwame Sefa Kayi, said the incubator will increase the total number of incubators donated to hospitals across the country to 45, and expressed optimism that the organisation will reach its 100 incubator target soon.
“It has been a long and hard road over the last six years, but when we look at what we do and the lives that it impacts, it is a driving force to make us continue,” he added.
Director General of the NLA, Sammy Awuku, said the foundation’s support to Kokrokoo Charities is in line with its aim of embarking on good causes in society.
The donation was received by Dr. Albert Benneh, Medical Superintendent of the hospital, who expressed gratitude to the Kokrokoo Charities and NLA on behalf of the management and staff of the hospital.
He assured that the donation would be put to use for the benefit of the babies as it would help lessen the pressure on the hospital.
Dr. Benneh said the hospital has been able to save the lives of 48 babies with the single incubator it received in 2019, and was therefore optimistic that with the addition more babies will have a better chance at life.
“With the cases that we see here I think if we get two more, that will be enough to care for the preterm babies,” he added as he called on benevolent organisations to support.
