A brazen theft has shaken the Asante Akim Central Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti Region, with thieves making off with the battery of a tipper truck meant for the District Road Improvement Project (DRIP).
According to the report, the equipment, parked at the Assembly premises, was awaiting the completion of training for machine operators when the theft occurred.
But what’s even more shocking is that the theft went undetected until a routine test on Thursday revealed the battery’s disappearance.
This incident raises serious questions about the security measures in place to protect the DRIP equipment.
The police have been notified, and an investigation is underway.
However, the theft has already sparked concerns among residents, who are worried about the potential delays to the project.
However, the Asante Akim Central Municipal Assembly has promised to beef up security measures to prevent future incidents.
