KUMASI ASANTE Kotoko have presented 60 pieces of diapers to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) children’s ward as part of the club’s corporate social responsibilities.

The donation was made by Kotoko, who are hoping to overturn a 2-3 defeat to Kano Pillars of Nigeria during the second leg of their Africa Champions League elimination crunch match in Kumasi this Sunday.

Connoisseurs of football and people who believe in superstition in Kumasi quickly read meanings into the donation, claiming that the kind gesture was to help bring luck to Kotoko as they face Kano Pillars.

Nana Gyemibi, the personal assistant to Kotoko CEO Dr. Kwame Kyei, who spoke on Ashh FM in Kumasi, however, explained that Tuesday’s donation was part of Kotoko’s corporate social responsibilities and nothing else.

According to him, the present Kotoko management has taken a firm decision to periodically donate to orphanage homes, hospitals and people in need in society as part of Kotoko’s corporate social responsibilities.

Nana Gyemibi stated that the Kotoko brand is huge in Ghana, Africa and the world at large, therefore, it was important that Kotoko reached out to the needy and certain institutions to help better their lives.

He said most of the teeming Kotoko supporters, at some point in their lives, would either themselves or their family members visit KATH for healthcare, so the donation was being made to them for their support.

Nana Gyemibi, therefore, appealed to well-endowed organisations and individuals in society to support Kotoko in diverse ways, so that the club could sustain its social responsibilities duties.
