Skipper Amos Frimpong scored Kotoko’s first goal

Asante Kotoko for the first time in eleven years, have made it to the Group stage of the CAF Confederations Cup after posting a 2-1 win over Cameroun’s Coton Sport in Kumasi tomorrow.

The Porcupine Warriors thus qualified on 5-3 aggregate, having recorded a 3-2 away win a week ago.

Kotoko scored in both halves with skipper Amos Frimpong scoring from the spot few minutes before the break.

The home side, who improved tremendously in the second half came close to doubling the lead but failed in all attempts.

Later, dribbler Maxwell Baako made it two with an inswinger midway after recess.

The visitors barely probed Kotoko’s rear leaving goalkeeper Felix Annan virtually on holiday.

Oumari Sali pulled one back for Coton Sport in the latter stages which sent the packed Stadium dead momentarily.

Kotoko will know the three opponents for the group stage in the coming days.

The Minister further expressed gratitude to all the fans who filled the Baba Yara Stadium to the rafters in support of the Porcupine Warriors in this important win.

Having progressed further to the group stage, the Minister urged the club to do well and reignite Ghana’s successes in continental football.
