Kotoko Ladies Show Love… In Pillars Demolishing

Some of the ladies captured at the stadium on Sunday

THERE WAS an interesting spectacle as more females were spotted at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi during the Kotoko-Kano Pillars game.

The CAF Champions League eliminator, which was played on Sunday, saw the over 40,000-seater Baba Yara Stadium almost filled to capacity.

Significantly, most of the spectators who were at the stadium were females, who certainly did not want to be left out of the excitement at the stadium.

Certainly, the females who thronged the stadium were Kotoko supporters, as virtually all of them were seen dressed in the red colours of the club.

Some of the ladies were seen posing for pictures even before crunch tie kicked started. Others were also heard chanting the ‘fabulous’ slogan of Kotoko.

During the game, most of the ladies were seen jumping and shouting, especially when Kotoko took an early lead through Kevin Andoh’s effort.

Some of the ladies who spoke to DAILY GUIDE SPORTS indicated that they have been watching Kotoko games at the Baba Yara Stadium in recent times.

They were of the belief that football is no longer the preserve of men, insisting that they would continually visit the stadium to cheer Kotoko up.

Football was, some years ago, described as sports for men but the trend is rapidly changing, as more females have started visiting the stadium, which is a good thing.

It is the hope that football authorities in the country, notably club owners and managers, would take advantage and implement policies to sustain women interest in football.
