Kotoko Record First Win

KUMASI ASANTE Kotoko recorded their first victory in the ongoing Ghana Premier League by beating visiting Inter Allies by a solitary goal at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, yesterday.

At the end of 90 minutes of a cagey encounter, Obed Owusu’s only goal separated the two clubs, who sold out a beautiful game to the football fans that watched the second-week league cracker.

The important victory has helped Kotoko, who struggled in the league last season to amass 4 points from a possible 6 points in a league season, which is just two weeks old.

Allies quickly rearranged themselves as they matched Kotoko boot-for-boot in a game which was closely contested.

Kotoko, who were backed by the vociferous supporters at the stadium, eventually found the back of the net after several attempts as Owusu, who was very determined to shine, grabbed the match winner.

Allies were surprisingly bolstered by the goal as they pushed Kotoko to the ropes in a desperate attempt to get an equalizer but Kotoko keeper, Felix Annan, prevented them from scoring.

Kotoko keeper, Annan, was adjudged the man of the match.
