K’si Traders Drop Case Against Central Market

Osei Assibey Antwi, Kumasi Mayor

THE SECOND phase of the Kumasi Kejetia Central Market Redevelopment Project can now go on as planned without any hindrance.

This positive news has emerged as a court injunction, recently secured by some few agitated traders to halt the project, has now been dropped.

This latest development therefore means the contractors on site now have the freedom and liberty to carry on the construction works peacefully.

The Kumasi Mayor, Osei Assibey Antwi, disclosing the positive news, said he was shocked when some traders secured injunction against the project.

According to him, from day one, the KMA has practised an open-door administration, so the traders were always updated on how the project was going.

Osei Assibey said all the major stakeholders in the project were taken aback when they learnt that some few traders had gone to court to stop the project.

“I see the court injunction case as a clear case of betrayal of trust because the assembly has worked closely with the traders from the onset till date.

“Therefore, I was not surprised when the same traders went to court to withdraw the injunction case for the project to continue,” he said on Akoma FM.

Osei Assibey stated emphatically that the second phase of the project was now on course now that the court injunction case had been withdrawn.

He, therefore, appealed passionately to the entire residents of Kumasi and even beyond to continue to support the project to help make it successful.
