Kumasi Businessman ‘Beats’ Girlfriend To Death

The late Sally Benson

The Asokore Mampong District Court has remanded a 48-year-old businessman, Francis Arthur, for allegedly killing his girlfriend in what police describe as a domestic violence incident.

Arthur is accused of beating to death his girlfriend, Sally Benson, a 33-year-old well-known Kumasi-based beautician, at Ayigya-Maxima following a misunderstanding.

According to police, the deceased, accompanied by a female friend, rushed to the suspect’s Ayigya residence after learning that his baby mama was visiting him. However, upon arrival, they did not meet Arthur, who had stepped out.

While waiting with her friend, Arthur returned and was confronted by Sally, leading to a heated altercation.

Chief Inspector Samuel Agyare stated that during the confrontation, Arthur allegedly assaulted the deceased, hitting her multiple times until she fell unconscious.

In an attempt to save her, Arthur reportedly drove her in her own car to the KNUST Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police later discovered visible marks of assault on the neck and chest of the deceased.

Arthur made his first appearance before Her Worship Hilda Esther Wryter last Tuesday, and has been remanded into custody to reappear on May 8, 2026.

Relatives of the deceased were present in court during the hearing.

The late Sally Benson was the owner of Sally’s Cosmetics Studio and African’s Special Pub at Asokwa.
