THE DATE for the completion of the second phase of the Kumasi Kejetia Market Project seems to have been pushed forward.
Originally, the massive market project was expected to be completed in June 2024, but it could be completed two months earlier.
Kumasi Mayor, Sam Pyne, who made the positive disclosure, stated that the contractors were working at a fast pace now.
According to him, he would therefore not be surprised if the market project is completed two months earlier than expected.
“I am impressed with the work delivery of the contractors who are working on the second phase of the Central Market project.
“The southern wing of the market has been erected already and clearly you could see that the contractors are working within time.
“The project should be completed in June 2024 but the contractors are contemplating of completing it in February 2024 instead,” he stated.
Sam Pyne, who was speaking on Akoma FM in Kumasi, said he was impressed with the work when he toured the project site recently.
He noted that all the problems that are being experienced at the Kejetia Market would be corrected at the Central Market project.
“Huge drainage systems have been created to stop floods and spacious car park has also been constructed,” Sam Pyne disclosed.
According to him, plans are also in the pipeline to construct solar energy system to help reduce the cost of power for the traders.
Sam Pyne therefore appealed to the residents of Kumasi to support the massive project.
