The Kumawuman Subjects Living Home and Abroad (KSLHA), a dominant pressure group in the area, organized a press conference on Tuesday morning to highlight the adverse effects of the protracted chieftaincy dispute on development in the area.
The indigenes of Kumawu in the Ashanti region, who attended the crucial event, were all clad in red and black attires to express their dissatisfaction with the relevant authorities for failing to settle the chieftaincy disputes.
Addressing the media, David Asumadu, Executive Member of KSLHA, appealed to the National House of Chiefs to gazette the legitimate chief in the town.
He said currently two men, who are all bearing the stool Barimma Tweneboa Kodua, have laid claim to the noble Kumawu Stool.
Mr. Asumadu noted that since Barimma Asumadu Sakyi, passed away, no meaningful development has taken place in the town in Kumawu.
According to him, the ordinary people in the town have been suffering due to the protracted chieftaincy dispute which had imposed untold hardship on the people.
He said Kumawu, which is one of the most respected traditional areas in the Ashanti Kingdom, is rapidly losing its respect in the region.
Mr. Asumadu complained bitterly about how foreign nationals, who in the past toured rich traditional sites in Kumawu, had suddenly stopped because of the lack of a recognized traditional leader.
According to him, KSLHA, which has many members, is prepared to undertake developmental projects to solve the unemployment problem in the town.
