In a statement released, the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has congratulated the people of Kumawu on their successful by-election, which saw them electing a new Member of Parliament (MP).
The President praised the people for conducting a peaceful, credible, and transparent election, which he believes has further strengthened Ghana’s democracy.
The President also commended the NPP, NDC, and independent candidates for contributing to the positive outcome of the election.
He praised the Electoral Commission, led by Jean Mensa, for organizing the best elections in the 4th Republic.
Ernest Yaw Anim, the NPP parliamentary candidate, emerged victorious with a remarkable 71% of the votes cast. President Akufo-Addo congratulated Anim and the NPP for their hard work, which resulted in such a resounding victory. The President also applauded the NPP’s national, regional, constituency, and polling station executives and party workers for their outstanding work that led to one of the highest turnout in the history of the 4th Republic by- elections.
The President expressed his confidence in Yaw Anim’s ability to represent the people of Kumawu in parliament effectively.
He also stated that he was pleased to see the “elephant continues to be on the march,” a reference to the NPP’s symbol.
In conclusion, the President offered his blessings to Ernest Yaw Anim, the people of Kumawu, and all Ghanaians.
He wished for Ghanaian democracy to continue to flourish and for the country to be blessed with strength and greatness.
