Kurt Okraku Promises Big Trophies Soon

Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Okraku, has given the assurance that the big trophies sitting FA presidents and Ghanaians have clamoured for over three decades are within the Black Stars’ reach.

To him, those silverwares, having eluded the Stars since 1982 are expected on the FA’s shelves soon.

The Ghana football chief’s high level of optimism stems from the direction the Stars and the technical team are currently towing.

The Stars’ recent tournament setbacks notwithstanding, Okraku feels the squad is on the right track.

Ghana exited at the group stage of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations when Cameroon hosted the competition.

However, they regrouped and secured a World Cup qualification against all odds but failed to move beyond the group stage of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

He pointed out that the team is on the right path as far as the vision of the GFA is concerned, having come close to qualifying for the 2023 African Cup of Nations.

He told Supersport, “We have an amazing group of players who are ready to die and work their socks off for Mother Ghana. The technical team currently led by Chris Hughton is a very competent one, and given the support the Football Association are offering, the support the government and the enthusiasm Ghanaians have offered, I think the team is in the right way.”

He added, “I believe that the big trophies that sitting presidents have always clamoured for, the big trophies that Ghanaians have always clamoured for will soon be on our shelves.”
