Kurt Okraku engaging the young players
Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has paid a working visit to the National U-15 Boys Team as preparations intensify for the maiden FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival in Azerbaijan.
The tournament will take place in Baku from October 22 to 31, 2026, marking the inaugural edition of FIFA’s global U-15 competition.
During his visit, Okraku urged the young players to remain disciplined, focused and committed as they prepare to represent Ghana on the international stage.
He encouraged the players to make the most of the opportunity, work hard in training and maintain the discipline needed to compete at the highest level.
The team, led by head coach Fatawu Salifu Fatawu, has stepped up preparations through a series of friendly matches.
In their latest tests, the U-15 side recorded two convincing victories over the John Paintsil Academy, winning the first encounter 5-1 before securing a 6-1 victory in the second.
The matches provided the technical team with an opportunity to assess the players and continue shaping the squad ahead of the tournament.
The team has been in camp preparing for the eight-a-side competition, which introduces a new format to FIFA’s youth football calendar. The fast-paced format is designed to increase ball-in-play time and encourage quicker decision-making among young players.
Simeon-Okraku was accompanied by Juvenile Committee Chairman Joe Salam Abubakar, GFA Executive Council Member Samuel Aboabire and GFA Technical Director Professor Joseph Kwame Mintah.
