Kwabre ‘Mugabe’ Retains Seat

Drama unfolded when Odeneho Kwaku Appiah was greeted with shouts of ‘Mugabe’ after he polled 590 votes, representing 86 percent of total votes, to retain his position as New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman for Affigya Kwabre South.

He has been the chairman of the NPP in the constituency for 16 years and his leadership skills appear to be bringing him electoral victories.

Described as very kind, visionary and hardworking, Odeneho, who has been the party’s chairman for the constituency for several years, was tipped to win the polls and so his victory did not surprise people at all.

Interestingly, the huge crowd that witnessed the peaceful elections spontaneously shouted ‘Mugabe, Mugabe’ after the Electoral Commission (EC) officials, who supervised the polls, declared Odeneho as the winner.

Other winners in the election included Christian Adu Poku, First Vice Chairman, Amoasi Takyi, Second Vice Chairman, Damata Salam, Secretary, Stephen Kwaku Boah, Assistant Secretary and Yaa Konadu, Women’s Organizer.

According to reports, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, despite winning by a whopping 86 percent of the votes, is still not enthused about his margin since he was expecting 100 percent.

Party sources from the Affigya Kwabre South Constituency have hinted the paper that Odeneho Kwaku Appiah has set up a committee to investigate why 73 party members decided to vote against him.

He stated that the party members considered his tremendous contributions to the party over the years.

Meanwhile, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, after being declared the winner in the polls, pledged to unite the party members in the constituency so that they could work together as a big family to help the NPP to retain power in 2020.

The Affigya Kwabre South ‘Mugabe,’ who was very confident, also stated that he would work with other elected executives to strengthen the NPP and make it attractive to floating voters in the constituency.
