Kwahu Republic, a community tourism development firm with a focus to support Kwahu’s development, has inaugurated tourism clubs in seven senior high schools in Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region.
The schools include Kwahu Tafo SHS, St. Joseph’s Technical Institute, Abetifi Technical Institute, Nkwatia Presby SHS, St. Peter’s SHS, Abetifi Vocational Training School, Abetifi Presby SHS and St. Dominic’s SHS.
The clubs are aimed at exposing students to the various tourism resources and empower the youth to become tourism ambassadors for the area while developing their sense of pride for traditions and culture.
A number of personalities, including Nana Baafour Yeboah Asuama I, the Mawerehene of Kwahu Traditional Area, attended the launch which was under the theme: ‘Projecting Tourism Through Culture & Our Environment’.
The Business Manager of Kwahu Republic, Frank Danchie, said Kwahu Republic decided to launch the clubs in line with the ‘Year of Return’ activities and to further create an enabling platform for schoolchildren to explore the tourism sector.
He promised to inaugurate more tourism clubs for senior high schools across the Kwahu Ridges in 2020.
Nana Baafour Yeboah Asuama I commended Kwahu Republic for the outstanding initiative.
He also encouraged all schools within Kwahu to take the club and its activities to the next level for the benefits of all.
Meanwhile, as part of this year’s Christmas festivities, Kwahu Republic would hold an entertainment show dubbed ‘Bliss On The Hills’, where a number of musicians would perform.
