Kwahumanhene Suspended Agya Barifa

The Kwahu Traditional Council in the Eastern Region, under the leadership of Kwahumanhene, Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II, has suspended Nana Osei Twum Brefa IV, Bukuruwahene, for selling stool lands illegally.

The council suspended the Bukuruwa chief, popularly known as Agya Barifa after he consistently flouted the directive of the Kwahumanhene to stop the sale of lands until further notice.

A press statement issued and signed by the Chief of Staff of the Paramount Chief, Nana Yaw Boadi copied to DAILY GUIDE, stated that Nana Brefa sold a piece of land at Afram Plains even though there was dispute involving Nana Dododgya, a settler headman, over the said land.

According to the statement, due to the dispute, Daasebre further summoned Nana Brefa to Abene and asked him not to lease any land in the said areas until the settlement of the dispute.

But Burukuwa chief went ahead to lease lands in violation of the directive.

The traditional council, presided over by Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong, on Tuesday asked Nana Brefa if he had leased any land which he responded in the affirmative.

The Abusuapanyin and elders from Bukuruwa, who were all summoned by the Traditional Council to answer questions, informed the elders of the Council that they could no longer defend Nana Brefa since his intransigence had stalled the development of Bukuruwa.

The statement further stated that after deliberations, Daasebre ordered Nana Osei Brefa to resolve all pending issues with his Abusuapanyin and elders and accordingly suspended him until further notice.
