The Children’s Service of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Nativity Congregation of La, on Sunday made a donation to the Correctional Centre of the Ghana Prisons Service at Roman Ridge in Accra.

This Christian charity was part of activities marking the 100 years of the Children’s Service under the theme: ‘100 years of Children’s Service and beyond: Equipping the child to give to the poor.’

The Children’s Service in a fundraising activity with support from the mother church was able to make the donation, which was made up of bags of rice, cooking oil, toiletries, detergents, hand sanitisers among others.

Presenting the items on behalf of the delegation to the centre, Michael Lartey the President of the Children’s Service and Christopher-Manuel Nii Nai Alemonai, a representative from the Children’s Service, encouraged the public to support the less privileged in the society, adding that “there is more blessings in giving.”

Receiving the items on behalf of the inmates, ASP Esther Achiaa, officer in charge of the Correctional Centre and the Senior Officer of the centre, Millicent Owusu both thanked the delegation for their benevolence.

They also used the opportunity to call on the public to support the inmates of the centre.
