Legon Sports Director Gets UNESCO Post

The hard work of Dr. Bella Bello Bitugu, Director, Sports Directorate of University of Ghana, Legon, has attracted international recognition.

 

Since assuming office after returning home from Austria where he acted as a worthy ambassador to head the country’s premier university’s sports directorate, the department has witnessed tremendous transformation.

 

Consequently, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Ghana National Commission for UNESCO, Ministry of Education, have appointed Dr. Bitugu to the International Centre of Martial Arts for Youth Development and engagement under the auspices of UNESCO.

 

In a letter signed by Ama Serwah Nerquaye-Tetteh, secretary general, it stated, “We are delighted to inform you of your appointment by the International Centre of Martial Arts for Youth Development and engagement under the auspices of UNESCO to serve a three-year-term on its governing board.”

 

It added, “On behalf of the chairman of the commission, we congratulate you on this achievement and hope that you will bring to bear your expertise to further the objectives and work of the centre as well as uplift the image of our beloved country and continent as a whole.

 

“We also take the opportunity to renew our sustained assistance to you in the discharge of your duties on the board, should the need arise.”
