Reggae musician, Ras Kuuku, has appealed to the family of the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka to put aside their differences and allow peace to prevail amid the ongoing tensions surrounding the Kristo Asafo founder’s funeral.
Speaking in an interview with Okay FM on Wednesday, the musician said he was saddened by the disputes that have followed the death of the renowned spiritual leader, inventor and industrialist.
Ras Kuuku said Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka deserved a peaceful and dignified burial in recognition of his immense contributions to Ghana, rather than a farewell overshadowed by family disagreements.
“I have seen what is going on in the Kantanka family. I was born in the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency and this has come. I am begging for peace to reign so that Kantanka can go and rest,” he said.
The reggae artiste noted that although he usually avoids commenting on private family matters, he felt compelled to speak because of the late apostle’s legacy and the respect he commanded across the country.
“I usually do not want to speak about people’s family matters, but they should let peace reign. How can your father be dead and guns are being fired? How can siblings fight like that?” he questioned.
Ras Kuuku added that many residents of Dome-Kwabenya, where he grew up, were eager to give the late apostle a fitting farewell and urged the family to unite.
“The people of Dome say they want peace. Anytime the funeral is done, we will all come and honour the legend, so they should let peace reign in the family,” he said.
His appeal comes amid ongoing disagreements within the Kantanka family over the funeral arrangements, burial date and succession of the late apostle.
Despite an interim injunction issued by the Accra High Court seeking to halt the funeral, thousands of mourners, family members, sympathisers and followers of the Kristo Asafo Mission have gathered at Gomoa Mpota in the Central Region to pay their final respects.
