CFO Kuunuor, Col. Warsuwah addressing the dignitaries
Chief Fire Officer of Liberia, Colonel Barvoul Warsuwah, made his inaugural visit to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) Headquarters in Accra on Wednesday.
This visit marks a significant step toward fostering collaboration and enhancing ties between the fire services of Ghana and Liberia.
Upon arrival, Col. Warsuwah was warmly welcomed by his Ghanaian counterpart, Chief Fire Officer Julius Aalebkure Kuunuor, along with senior officers of the GNFS.
The visit commenced with a ceremonial Guard of Honour Parade, officially ushering the Liberian delegation into the GNFS Headquarters.
The primary aim of Col. Warsuwah’s visit was to explore avenues for cooperation and knowledge exchange between the two nations’ fire services.
Both parties engaged in a productive meeting, sharing best practices and discussing strategic ways to enhance fire safety measures and emergency response protocols.
Col. Warsuwah expressed admiration for the operational efficiency of the GNFS and emphasized the importance of love and compassion in building a cohesive firefighting team.
During the meeting, CFO, Kuunuor reflected on the growing collaboration between the two fire services, particularly highlighting a 2022 partnership where GNFS officers were deployed to Liberia to train personnel of the Liberia National Fire and Rescue Service.
He congratulated Col. Warsuwah on his recent appointment by the President of Liberia and praised the visit as a timely initiative to further strengthen their relationship.
As a gesture of goodwill, the GNFS presented the Liberian delegation with a commemorative gift package that included a plaque, calendar, and a traditional Kente sash adorned with the GNFS logo and Adinkra symbols representing safety and security—symbolizing Ghana’s rich cultural heritage and the GNFS’s unwavering commitment to public safety.
The visit concluded with mutual commitments from both Chief Fire Officers, reaffirming the importance of regional cooperation in advancing fire safety management across West Africa.
The Liberian delegation included Matthew P. Freeman, Managing Director of PS Trade Ghana, and Emmanuel Ebo Budu-Mensah, President of Perfect Care Institute of Fire and Safety Engineering.
