Lions Club International, Jos Pharmaceuticals fight diabetes

Lions Club district-418 has in collaboration with Jos pharmaceuticals Limited embarked on a walkathon to create awareness on diabetes.

The walkaton came off on Saturday, November 7, 2020, and aimed at commemorating this year’s World Diabetes Day.

Diabetes affects about 463 million people worldwide.

The theme for this year’s event is: “United in Service”. Lions Club International Ghana, district 418, as part of its service to the society, hit the streets of Accra to educate people on the need to test for diabetes.

The walk started from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) branch at Korle Bu, through the streets of Chorkor and ended at the premises of Jos Pharmaceuticals, at Mamprobi.

As part of the company’s corperate social responsibility, Jos Pharmaceuticals Limited will be joining the Lions club in the diabetes screening next week Saturday, November 14, 2020, and will include free medication for the first 30 days, for those who would be diagnosed with the condition.

Participating clubs include Accra Metro, Accra Diamond, Adenta Mountain View, Accra Spintex, Accra Ebony, and Accra Harmony Lions Clubs.

The Lions Club International is the world largest voluntary service organization that aims to serve their community and meet humanitarian needs.
