The Lower Manya Municipal Education Directorate has held its maiden education review meeting, with a call on stakeholders to collaborate to deliver quality education.

The event, which was under the theme, ‘Providing Quality Education in an enabling environment,’ was held at the auditorium of the Municipal Assembly at Odumase Krobo in the Eastern Region.

It was attended by circuit supervisors, heads of institutions, teachers, assembly members, traditional authorities, civil society organizations and opinion leaders, corporate bodies, among others.

The Review Meeting 2016/17, according to Rose Yaa Akanyi, Municipal Director of Education for Lower Manya, was a platform for taking stock of the activities of the directorate over the year.

She further indicated that the directorate has held a number of capacity-building workshops for staff, head teachers and teachers, which has led to tremendous improvement in the performance and output.

While expressing appreciation to the sponsors of the meeting, she was hopeful participants would properly utilize the knowledge they had gained.

Mrs Rose Akanyi thanked Pencil of Promise, an International Non Governmental Organization (NGO), among others, operating in the area for supporting the development of education in the municipality.

She urged corporate bodies and international partners to support the municipality, which according to her, is facing a number of challenges.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Lower Manya, Simon Kwaku Tetteh, called on the directorate to sustain the programme.

Mr Tetteh also commended the traditional council and corporate bodies, among others, who have provided the municipality over the years with logistics to enhance teaching and learning.
