Lyrical Joe Eyes VGMA Award

Ghanaian rapper, Lyrical Joe, is not resting on his oars as he gears up to win the Best Rap Performance award for the second time at this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).

Lyrical Joe, who won Best Rap Performance award last year, believes he stands a good chance of winning the award due to his track record.

This year, he has been nominated again in the same category with acts such as Teephlow, Strongman, Sarkodie, Amerado and Medikal.

Many music stakeholders believe with his numerous hit songs on the market, Lyrical Joe is the ideal candidate for the Best Rap Performance award.

With songs like ‘Superman’ , ‘Knack’ , ‘Goodness and Mercy’, ‘Fear’, ‘Betrayal’ among others to his credit, Lyrical Joe believes his hard work in the year under review had surpassed all and deserving of the award, adding that he will win the award for the second time.

The rapper, however, expressed his disappointment for not being added to the ‘Songwriter of the Year’ list for 2023 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs).

He told AJ Sarpong in an interview on the 3FM Drive, “I won’t say I was disappointed at the VGMA nomination.”

“The only thing I really wanted that I didn’t get was the Writer of the Year, I wanted the Writer of the Year for my song ‘Self’ because it deserves it,” he said.

When asked for his possible reaction if his rival Amerado wins the VGMA 2023, he said, “Congrats to him if he wins the ‘Best Rapper of the Year for #24thVGMA’ I won’t be bothered if I don’t take it. Me being nominated alone is top tier.”

Lyrical Joe released his latest 15-track album titled ‘Photo Album’ on March 1 and some of the songs on the album include ‘2 Bottles’, ‘Flex’, ‘Hustle and Ambition’, ‘Street Prophets’, ‘A Gate’, ‘ABCD’, ‘Cover’, ‘Self’ among others.

He is currently the brand ambassador for the Ghana Tertiary Awards (GTA).
