Macbells Advocates Sustained Media Campaign

Managing Director of Macbells Company Limited, Sydney Francis Akwafo MacCarthy, has called for a deliberate and sustained media campaign to promote the patronage of made-in-Ghana products and services to enable businesses expand their operations and employ more hands.

This, he said, will help check the increasing unemployment situation in the country and engender appreciable growth of the economy.

Mr MacCarthy made the comments when he addressed the press at this year’s Macbells Employees Soiree in Accra.

“We cannot call on people to patronize Ghanaian products and services in one or two months in a year or one day in a week and expect them to develop permanent taste for the goods and services. The media campaign must be sustained throughout the year to ensure that consumers develop a liking for what is produced locally,” the Managing Director said.

He also called on the government to make a conscious effort to support indigenous businesses to grow by lessening the tax burden on them and also offering other incentives that will help them to expand their operations.

The company honoured eight individuals, including two former workers, who were presented with citations and undisclosed prizes for their meritorious service and loyalty to the company over the last 23 years.

The award winners included Richard Tackie Borketey, Production Manager, who was named the Overall Best Worker and one of the longest-serving members of staff, having worked with the company for 22 out of the 23 years of its existence.

Other award winners were Alex Obeng Addo, Chief Driver/Sales Executive, Bernard Tetteh Adjei, Driver/Sales Executive, Benjamin Addo, Sales Executive, and Stephen Agbosu Osabutey, Procurement Officer/ Sales Executive.

The rest were James Tetteh Sebi, Driver/Sales Executive, Kenneth Nikoi, former General Manager, and Beatrice Kudjoe, former Training Officer.

On behalf of the award winners, the Production Manager, Richard Tackie Borketey, thanked the management for working hard to sustain the business to guarantee their employment and for the honour done them.

The company’s products include Macbells Paddy, Macbells Lime, Macbells Soda Mix, Macbells Xtra Time, Macbells Brandy, Macbells London Dry Gin, Macbells Ok3sie, Macbells Demore Bitters and Bells Purified Drinking Water.
