Mahama Dines With NDC MPs

John Dramani Mahama dining with a section of the MPs

Immediate-past President, John Dramani Mahama – who is scheming to be president again after his term was cut short by President Akufo-Addo’s overwhelming electoral victory in 2016, apparently came to parliament yesterday to woo his National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament to unconditionally support him in his bid again.

After witnessing the State of the Nation Address delivered by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the former president joined the NDC MPs at the dining table at the ‘coffee shop’ of parliament and ate with them.

The MPs were eating rice and stew and the former president and his former Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, picked plates, served themselves and ate openly.

As if it was well-orchestrated dinner with the MPs, the former president was seen heartily chatting with the MPs, as they also served themselves and enjoyed their meal.

People claimed that it was the MPs who invited him to come and have lunch with them, but his presence at the dining table was enough attraction for workers, visitors and the media in parliament.

People started taking ‘selfies’ with him while the cameras of media were busy capturing the scene.

Last year, former Presient John Mahama could not attend the State of the Nation Address in parliament but this time round, with the internal elections of his party around the corner, he came together with his former vice president, Kwesi Amissah-Arthur.

Not all the MPs were present for the dinner, but clearly one could see only the young MPs at the dining table, with the MP for Yapei/Kusawgu, John Jinapor, directing affairs.
