Man Allegedly Kills Wife, Deposits Body at Morgue

Gali Golo

Another love relationship has ended bizarrely after a fisherman allegedly beat his wife to death over suspected infidelity.

The man, Gali Golo after the incident which occurred last Saturday night, March 27, 2021 secretly moved the wife’s body to a morgue at Agbozume.

Residents at Akame in the Ketu South Municipality who spoke to Daily Guide are yet to come to terms with the incident they have described as unfortunate.

One of them speaking on condition of anonymity said the suspect, 38-year-old Gali Golo had a verbal altercation with the wife, 34-year-old Beatrice Logosu that Saturday afternoon through to the evening.

The altercation which degenerated into some minor physical assaults was doused by neighbours at the displeasure of Golo.

Only for them to wake up the next morning to learn of the death of Madam Beateice.

The Ketu South Municipal Commander, ASP Joseph Nakoja who corroborated the incident to the press said the suspect is in the custody of the Police.

He said Golo who is assisting with investigations was rested after a report was lodged on Sunday, March 28, 2021.

The report they received alleged that Gali Golo who lives with his wife at Akame had beaten the wife to death the previous night and secretly sent the body for preservation at Hosanna Clinic mortuary in Agbozume.

The Police moved to the morgue and took over the corpse which had then been embalmed.

Preliminary examination showed bruises on the body with blood oozing from a broken jaw. The victim’s neck also appeared to be broken; suggesting a possible case of strangulation.

The body is still at same morgue awaiting further examination.

ASP Nakoja indicated that the neighbours of the couple who spoke to the Police said the suspect threatened to kill anyone who condemned his assault on the wife or tried to intervene.

The Police has since invited the morgue attendant at the Hosanna Clinic, the family of the victim and that of the suspect to assist with investigations.

This will be the third time in the month of March that the Police in the Volta Region has received reports of men allegedly assaulting their lovers to the point of death.

The first two which occured in Ho had one Philip Caesar Kumah allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, Elizabeth Yesutor Akpalu who later died at the Ho Teaching Hospital after she was rushed there complaining of chest pains.

Philip is still in Police custody as his bail request is yet to be decided on by the Court.

The second which happend about a week ago saw one Anthony Dordoye, aka Ball Jay allegedly killing the girlfriend of six years; Harriet Kafiu Ahiati.

Jay is suspected to have attempted taking his own life, after cutting his stomach and his neck open.

Fortunately, the health professionals at the Ho Teaching Hospital have saved his life and he is recuperating as at the time of filing this report. He is on Police guard.

The Public Affairs Officer of the Volta Regional Police Command, Sergeant Prince Dogbatse, who sympathised with the victims and their families assured residents not to be alarmed as the Police was up to task to keep them safe.

That notwithstanding, he appealed with them to promptly report cases of abuse to avoid the instances of death. The job of reporting should not just be the victims, but their neighbours, friends and relations can also report, he noted.
