A 35-year-old unemployed man, Kofi Avoka on Thursday evening allegedly murdered his pregnant wife, Irene Appiah, 27 at Ankwa Dobro, a suburb of Nsawam/ Adoagyiri Municipality of the Eastern Region.
It’s unclear what triggered the man who was staying with three kids to hack his pregnant wife with a cutlass on her head and hands to death
The man after committing the heinous crime committed suicide by slashing his throat which he ended up bleeding profusely to death.
The neighbors around who heard the information quickly called the Nsawam Police who rushed to the scene and met the lifeless body of the woman who was lying on the floor of their bedroom in a pool of blood with multiple cuts on the face and the head.
The Police further proceeded to Nsawam Government Hospital where suspect/deceased Kofi Avokah was rushed for treatment but was pronounced dead shortly on arrival.
According to a Police report sighted by DGN Online, the children who sleep in a separate room heard their mother shouting for help but their father hurriedly ran out of the room.
Later, a neighbor came to the room after the suspect had ran to their house with a slashed throat and found the woman in a pool of blood.
The Police then retrieved both bodies and deposited them at the Police Hospital morgue, awaiting autopsy.
