Man Killed Over Cigarrette

The police in Adenta, Accra, are on the heels of a man believed to be in his 30s for allegedly killing his friend over a stick of cigarette at Adenta Sakora No.5.

Suspect Isaac Brown is reported to have stabbed his friend, Kwabena Amponsah, 47, in the head and ribs leading to his death.
Witness claim the two were in a drinking spot at about 9:30am on Saturday when Amponsah snatched a stick of cigarette that Brown was preparing to use.

Brown got infuriated by Amponsah’s action and it led to a brutal fight and in the process, Brown stabbed Amposah with a knife.

The Adenta Police report indicated that the mother of the deceased reported the matter to the police around 10:00am.
DSP Efia Tenge, the Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, said Amponsah allegedly took the cigarette from Brown to smoke and it resulted in a verbal exchange which turned into a fight.

“They were separated and Amponsah left the spot to his house, but a few minutes later  Brown followed up Amposah to his house to further attack him.”

She said it was in the course of their fight that Brown reportedly stabbed Amponsah before escaping.

DSP Tenge said police personnel later visited the scene and found Amponsah dressed in a pair of black jeans trousers over red and black t-shirt lying in prone position, dead.

She said the body was carefully inspected, after which it was conveyed to the Police Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.

“Efforts are underway to gather useful information that will lead to the apprehension of the suspect to face the full rigours of the law,” she added.
