Man Kills Wife, Commits Suicide

Breman Asikuma in the Central Region was thrown into a state of shock on Wednesday after a 46 year old man allegedly stabbed his wife to death and subsequently committed suicide.

Kwasi Kumi, aka One Stone, is reported to have stabbed his wife, Adiza Ibrahim, 39, in the chest during an altercation.

The police arrested him but he died later in the hospital later on Thursday dawn.

According to the police in Breman Asikuma, the suspect, after the criminal act had locked up the body of the woman in the room and escaped but was later found lying by the roadside in another town unconscious.

The Central Regional Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Irene Oppong, confirmed to the Daily Guide that the incident occurred on July 6, 2021 around 5:30pm.

She said around 8pm, police received a complaint from one Adams Quianoo, who identified himself as brother to the woman that around  5:30pm, same day, he was in his house when he received information from three women he identified as  Afrakoma, Fati and Adam, that his sister Adiza had been stabbed by her husband.

She said the complainant claimed he rushed to the scene but realized that the room where his sister was said to be lying had been locked.

She said the complainant forced his sister’s door opened and found her lying dead in a pool of blood.

“Police together with the complainant proceeded to the scene at Mbraa street of Asikuma where the complainant led police into the room where the body of Adiza Ibrahim was found lying in supine position in a pool of blood.”

She said the body was carefully inspected by the police team where they discovered a deep knife wound on her chest.

DSP Oppong said that their preliminary investigations at the scene indicated that there was a misunderstanding between the couple and after the incident, suspect came out of the room, locked it up and left the house.

“On that same day, the police had information that a man had been found lying unconscious by the roadside at Ekumfi Otuam and he was suspected to have taken  poison,” the Police PRO said.

“Otuam Police visited the scene, saw the said man lying unconscious and conveyed him  to Apam Government hospital for treatment.”

The Central Regional Police PRO said police later discovered after the victim had gained consciousness that he was the one who had murdered his wife and attempted to take his life by drinking a substance suspected to be poison.

“Asikuma police were contacted and they confirmed that a case of the murder of Adiza Ibrahim who is the wife of the suspect had been reported,” she said.

The suspect was undergoing investigations but died at dawn on Thursday.
