The Late Ebony and Bullet
Management of the late Ebony Reigns has denied knowledge of her trip to Sunyani which led to her untimely death on Thursday.
The head of management and CEO of Ruff Town Records, Ricky Nana Agyemang (Bullet), disclosed on Monday that the ‘Maame Hw?’ singer only informed the team about a trip she wanted to embark on to Tamale in the Northern Region.
He stated that management, therefore, was shocked to learn of her trip to Sunyani which claimed her life.
“Ebony didn’t make us aware she was travelling to Sunyani. That’s the fact. I know she said she would go to Tamale but I don’t know when she would go. But I wasn’t aware of the Sunyani trip. None of the team members knew about the trip,” Bullet told Abeiku Santana on Okay FM on Monday.
Ebony, 20, died in a car accident on Thursday, February 8, 2018 together with two others — Francisca Kuri, her childhood friend and Francis Atsu Vondee of the Ghana Air Force, believed to be her bodyguard.
They were returning to Accra from Abesim, near Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region, where they had gone to pay a visit to Ebony’s mother, when they met their unfortunate death. None of her management members was part of the trip, thereby, heightening speculations there could be a problem.
Bullet added that he didn’t know Francis Astu Vondee as Ebony’s bodyguard, contradicting a previous account by Ebony’s dad who described him as a “bodyguard”.
He said Francisca Kuri was neither Ebony’s personal assistant nor lesbian partner as widely being alleged.
“I know Ebony’s boyfriend,” he revealed and downplayed rumours of Ebony having issues with management.
“We don’t have any problem with Ebony. If we had issues I won’t have flown out of the country to make arrangements for her upcoming tour. In every institution, there are bound to be misunderstanding. We fight and make up and it’s normal. Ebony was still under Ruff Town and Midas Touch,” Bullet pointed out.
According to him, they had a five-year contract with Ebony Reigns and she had never shown signs of exiting the label.
Nana Appiah Mensah, CEO of Zylofon Media, had earlier alleged that he had a meeting with Ebony to join Zylofon.
But Bullet added that Zylofon hasn’t approached management to sign Ebony, which, in fact, would have been the standard procedure.
Rather, he revealed management was in talks with Sony Music and Akon’s Konvict Music, who showed interest in signing Ebony.
He also denied allegations that he may be having a hand in Ebony’s death, saying, “God is my witness.”
Bullet touched on prophecies concerning Ebony’s death, revealing that she was aware of it.
According to him, the first time he met Ebony, she told him a prophetess had told her she would meet Ruff N Smooth music duo and they would make her very popular and also have the opportunity to work with big artistes like Sarkodie but she would die at the apex of her career.
“We were always in church praying and following directions,” he continued, but that could not save Ebony from the cold hands of death.
Abeiku asked if they’d told the father about the prophecy but Bullet answered, “No.”
The family of the late Ebony Reigns is yet to announce funeral arrangements in memory of the late Ebony, but Bullet mentioned that there will be a one-week memorial service open to the public at St Martin’s de Porres School at Dansoman on Sunday.
