NEW PATRIOTIC Party (NPP) members across the country have been admonished to embrace total peace at all times in order to ensure the retention of political power in 2024.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South Constituency, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh aka ‘Napo’, making the call, said the NPP would be stronger in an atmosphere of peace.
Napo was speaking during this year’s annual Delegates Conference of the Manhyia South NPP, which was organised under strict Covid-19 protocols in the constituency on Sunday.
He reminded the NPP members, especially the polling station executives, to do away with acts that would divide the political party and rather embrace peace in the interest of the political party.
According to him, the country always experiences massive transformation whenever the NPP is in political office, therefore the party members should work hard to retain the NPP in political office.
“We have the men, ideas and strategies to expedite national development and this has been confirmed by the positive works of President Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration,” he said.
Napo, who is also the Minister of Energy, therefore stated that no stone should be left unturned in order to help the NPP to make history by staying in power for three consecutive terms in 2024.
In attendance were Henry Nana Boakye aka ‘Nana B’, NPP National Youth Organiser, Justin Kodua, CEO of YEA, Nana Ama Ampomah, Ashanti Regional NPP Women’s Organiser and other party gurus.
Significantly, the party used the programme to take stock of the NPPs activities in the constituency in the past year, and also planned about what should be done to make the party stronger.
Continuing, Napo also admonished the NPP delegates to contribute their quota so that the upcoming internal party elections to elect the next batch of party executives, would be peaceful.
He also cautioned the NPP members against the ‘skirt and blouse’ syndrome of voting, which to him, adversely affected the fortunes of the NPP during the 2020 national elections.
According to him, the NPP should have won more seats in Parliament due to the government’s positive works, but that was not the case “because there were skirt and blouse voting in some places.”
Napo commended the party executives for their hard work, dedication and commitment to duty, which contributed to help the party to retain power in 2020, and said more hard work was needed now.
