Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah
The New Patriituc Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah has objected to over one thousand fraudulent voter transfers allegedly by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the constituency.
The NPP candidate, a legal professional, subsequently lodged a complaint with the Electoral Commission (EC) under Regulations 23 (2) (c ) and (d) as well as 24 (2) (f) and 25 (1) of C.I. 91.
According to the NPP candidate, the basis of his objection was that the over 1,000 voter transfers involved persons who, he claimed, do not live in the Manhyia South constituency.
The EC referred the matter to the Magistrate Court at Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi, for determination.
During the court hearing last Friday, Landlords of the properties where the over 1,000 registered voters purport to live were present to give testimonies.
The landlords categorically denied that the said persons live in the said properties.
The Court, after hearing the testimonies of the landlords, adjourned proceedings to Tuesday, September 24, 2024, for ruling on the case.
