Nana Owusu Afriyie Prempeh
NANA OWUSU Afriyie Prempeh, who has been tipped by political pundits to win the Manhyia South parliamentary primary, has picked the number one spot on the ballot.
The balloting, which was done in the constituency on Tuesday, saw Lawyer Nana Agyei Baffuor Awuah pick number two, followed by Akwasi Coker Gyambibi, number three and James Owusu Boakye, number four.
The Manhyia South Constituency parliamentary seat became vacant recently after Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the incumbent MP, was selected as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential running mate.
Prior to the balloting of positions for the four contestants, the party leadership had successfully vetted and cleared all the contestants to take part in Sunday’s crucial election.
Meanwhile, reports picked by DAILY GUIDE indicated that the battle for the Manhyia South seat is a two-horse race between Nana Owusu Afriyie Prempeh and Lawyer Nana Agyei Baffuor Awuah.
According to the reports monitored from the constituency, all the four contestants have intensified their campaign for votes, especially as the day of election is rapidly drawing near.
However, Nana Owusu Afriyie Prempeh, who is the brother of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the outgoing Manhyia South MP, is leading the pack as he is the delegates favourite.
According to sources in the constituency, Nana Owusu Afriyie Prempeh, aside being seen as respectful, humble and a visionary leader, also has a superior campaign message which the delegates have embraced.
