Martha Ankomah Goes Behind The Camera

Martha Ankomah

Several years after gracing the silver screens as a successful and award-winning actress, Martha Ankomah is set for a new challenge in her line of work.

The beautiful actress has now gone behind the camera to produce her debut movie titled ‘A Happy Surprise’.

The new movie is anticipated to channel a whole new path for the ‘Somewhere In Africa’ actress.

Over the past few years, with a quest to create seminal cinematic works and keep the movie industry on its ‘feet’, some actresses have taken matters into their own hands, stepping behind the camera and embracing roles as writers, producers, and even directors.

By leveraging on their name recognition and influence, these women have been exercising greater control over the projects they bring to life, overseeing them from inception to distribution and breaking records with their works.

A tall list of some of these women include actresses; Yvonne Nelson, Yvonne Okoro, Lydia Forson, Joselyn Dumas, Zynnell Zuh, Kafui Danku, Juliet Ibrahim, Nadia Buari,  Selassie Ibrahim, Mercy Asiedu, and Emelia Brobbey, who have all gone on from acting to produce their own movies.

Martha is the latest actress to join the bandwagon. She lined up some of Ghana’s finest showbiz personalities in her upcoming production.

All roads are expected to lead to the Silverbird Cinemas at Accra Mall & West Hills where the movie will premiere on January 1, 2022.

The movie’s impressive cast include Adjetey Anang, Prince David Osei, Diana Gbatey, Kalybos, Amanda Jissih and Paulina Oduro.

The movie indeed has a lot of surprises; including musicians Joe Mettle and Diana Hopeson making their debut in a movie.

Martha started acting in 1994, and entering a competition, Next Movie Star, where she placed third in the 2007 edition of the reality show. She has since not looked back.
