Massive Turnout Heralds Celebrity Prez Putter

Massive turnout characterised this year’s President’s Putter at the Celebrity Golf Club, Sakumono.

Close to 200 golfers signed up for the well-organised competition on Saturday.

Club president, Mr. Tang Hong, commended the participants for turning up in their numbers, and promised to support golf in the country, especially among the youth.

It was Robert Degbey, who emerged tops in the seniors pros event, played over two days.

Top golfer Vincent Torgah shot 203 strokes, ten under the course par over three days to win the pros event.

Young Afi Amezado shot five feet close to the pin in the lady’s category, while John Gabba shot eight feet closest to the pin in the men’s group.

The longest drive category saw Esi Bernice triumphing, with Romeo Sasu picking the men’s category.

A 39 stable ford points saw Liping Wang winning the lady’s group B category, while Naomi Tei-(36), Patricia  Adusei Poku (34) followed in that order.

The lady’s group A category saw Mercy Werna  winning 43 points on count back, with Floria Hurtubise 43, and Hajia Zenabu Sulemana following.

A 40 stable ford points handed Daniel Aryee (Foyoo) the men’s category B ultimate prize, with Mohammed Munkaila (40) and Kevin Andoh following in that order.

A special prize was handed to young Michael Nyarko for his consistency and focus in the spot.

It was Gari Kai Ndlovu (42), who left the course as the ultimate winner, with Eric Ofosuhene (41) and

Francis Amuzu (40), trailing in that order.

All the first three winners took home special prizes ranging from cash, a night stay at Tang Palace Hotel worth GH¢3,000, two nights stay worth GH¢6,000, to products from Catic Motors (Giti tires, batteries) and home appliances.

Tournament coordinator, John ‘Wonders’ Mawuli, commended sponsors like Tang Palace Hotel, Catic Motors, for their massive support.
