Maurice Ampaw
It has emerged that Maurice Ampaw is among a supposed long list of people, including celebrities, who received a fleet of cars from beleaguered Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Menzgold Ghana Limited, Nana Appiah Mensah popularly known as NAM1.
The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), which has begun confiscating properties of the troubled gold dealership firm following a court order, has therefore issued a warning to Mr. Ampaw to surrender a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado in his custody.
The vehicle, with registration number GT 1813-17, according to the anti-graft body, belongs to Menzgold and has therefore asked Mr. Ampaw to relinquish it.
Mr. Ampaw and five other persons are said to be in possession of vehicles belonging to the embattled firm.
It is, however, not clear if the said Maurice Ampaw is the same as the maverick private legal practitioner and political critic.
EOCO therefore directed Mr. Ampaw and the other five persons to send the vehicles to EOCO’s head office or any regional office before February 15, 2019.
The others are Raygan, who lives in Tema and is in possession of Toyota Corolla with registration number GE 7355 and Clive Ofosuhene, Hyundai Elantra with registration number GE 6872-17.
The rest are Christian, who is in Tarkwa and in possession of Hyundai i10 with registration number GN 5884-15; Okeyere in Kumasi, Hyundai i10 with registration number GN 9727-15 and the late Prince Blewuo, whose family is in possession of the Hyundai i10 with registration number GN 1662-16.
EOCO is said to be making headway in tracking properties of the company, including those of its beleaguered CEO.
According to DAILY GUIDE sources at EOCO, the anti-graft body has managed to secure over 40 luxurious cars and a number of mansions belonging to NAM1 which could possibly be sold to pay off customers.
Sources say EOCO has chosen to take swift action because it does not want any would-be claimants to start protesting that the properties in question belong to them.
This revelation comes at a time when EOCO has frozen the bank accounts of NAM1, and is said to be making frantic efforts to trace his other assets.
The accounts, which are said to be with three different banks, were frozen on January 14, 2019
EOCO has appealed to the public to volunteer further information that will lead to the recovery of other properties of NAM1.
