McBrown, Akumaa Mama Zimbi, Others Honoured At RTP Awards

  IT was all thrills and surprises at this year’s edition of the Adonko Radio and Television Personality (RTP) Awards held at the Movenpick Hotel in Accra last Saturday, November 6, as Abeiku Santana won the RTP Personality of the Year award.

Public response has been overwhelmingly positive towards the top award given to the ace broadcast journalist and television presenter.

He  beat competition from personalities such as Afia Pokuaa  – Okay FM, Stacy Amoateng  – Platinum Network,  Bernard Avle  – Citi FM,  Nana Ama McBrown  – UTV, Patrick Osei Agyemang (Songo)  – Adom TV, Agyemang Prempeh  – Power FM and  Giovanni Caleb  –  TV3.

Abeiku Santana who is the host of Okay FM Drive Time Show also took home the Radio Late Afternoon Show Host of the Year award.

The night saw popular Peace FM sport presenter Dan Kwaku Yeboah grabbing Radio Sports Show Host of the Year award.

The event, which is in its 11th edition, was organised by Big Event Ghana to reward radio and television personalities who have over the years contributed immensely towards the development of radio and television in Ghana.

This year, over 40 radio and television industry players were also rewarded for their hard work, dedication and contribution to the development of radio and television industry in Ghana.

The awards ceremony attracted a large number of radio and television personalities, the media and a section of the stakeholders in the creative industry.

It witnessed live musical performances from Tinny, KK Fosu, Fameye, Kweku Darlington, Abochi, Kweku Bany, and a host of others who thrilled patrons with mind-blowing performances.

Despite Group emerged the Best Media Group of the Year, while Peace FM, also a subsidiary network of the Despite Group, also won the Radio Station of the Year (Accra) award.

TV Female Presenter of the Year (Nana Ama McBrown), TV Local TV Series of the Year – Yantah – UTV, TV Cooking/Culinary Programme of the Year -McBrown’s Kitchen – UTV, Radio Programme of the Year – Kokrokoo – Peace FM, Radio Morning Show Host of the Year – Kwame Nkrumah Tikesie of Okay FM and Radio Entertainment Talk Show Host of the Year – Halifax Ansah Addo.

Other winners include Radio Talk Show Host of the Year Samson Lardy Anyenini – Joy FM, Radio Gospel Show Host of the Year – Franky 5, Radio Reggae Show Host of the Year – King Lagazee, Radio Development Show Host of the Year – Akumaa Mama Zimbi, Radio DJ of the Year – DJ Slim, Radio Entertainment Pundit of the Year – Fred Kyei Mensah, Radio Entertainment Talk Programme of the Year – Power Entertainment – Power FM.

Radio Sports Programme of the Year Angel Floodlight Sports – Angel FM (Accra), Radio Late Afternoon Programme of the Year – Angel Drive – Angel FM, Radio Mid-Morning Show Host of the Year – Agyenim Boateng – Kasapa FM, Radio Morning Programme of the Year – Anopa Bofour – Angel FM among others.
