The Municipal Chief Executive for Nzema East in the Western Region, Frank Okpenyen, has taken the fight against the coronavirus (COVID-19) disease to churches in the municipality.
The MCE last Sunday stormed most of the churches in the area to create awareness on the need for the members to adhere to all the safety protocols of COVID-19.
As part of the efforts, the MCE distributed over 7,000 face masks and hand sanitisers to the congregants of the various churches he visited.
The churches included Roman Catholic, Apostolic Church, Christ Apostolic Church, Zion Chapel, and Anglican Church.
The rest were, Methodist Church, Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Assemblies of God, Pentecost and End Time Restoration Church.
He said that the move was part of the first phase of the distribution exercise.
He admonished the congregants to strictly adhere to the COVID-19 protocols including wearing of face masks, regular washing of hands with soap under running water and the use hand sanitisers.
He noted that the next phase of the exercise would take place in the other churches that did not benefit in his first phase distribution exercise, mosques and market places within the municipality.
