Mr Khubchandani, as DGN Online earlier reported died on January 25, 2021 at the Nyaho Medical Centre.

Below is Godwin Avenogor statement announcing the death of Mr Khubchandani

MELCOM GRIEVES
A HUGE TREE HAS FALLEN AND A MAN OF STATURE HAS BEEN RECALLED BY GOD FOR DUTY IN THE HIGH HEAVENS.

It has taken me several hours since I got the terrible news to come to terms with the reality that MR BHAGWAN RAMCHAND KHUBCHANDANI the Founder and Group Chairman of Melcom Group of Companies is no more.

His passing hit Family, Management, Staff and Friends yesterday like a destructive Thunderbolt gone wild.

He was born on 8th October 1937.

He arrived in Ghana at the invitation of his Father and was well established as the then Joint MD of Glamour Stores until his visionary sights drove him in a different direction for accelerating his love and commitment to Retail Trade.

That was when he set up Melcom through his Son-In-Law Mr Mahesh Melwani who is currently Joint Managing Director.

He was a leader who believed in work and service and has often told staff of Melcom that God willing he would work till the last day that God would call him.

And this indeed is how the story of his journey on earth ended yesterday.

When we formally opened the Melcom Branch at La a few years ago he announced that his vision was leading him to a targeted goal of 50 Melcom Branches Nationwide within a very short time.

He asked me to emphasise that statement and to remind management even as we assured Ghanaians that it was possible to do so.

Though COVID-19 Pandemic slowed down the process for a while The Directors of Melcom bought into the vision and left no stone unturned and today I’m happy to report that his vision of 50 MELCOM Branches has been achieved with the 50th Branch soon to open to the public for business.

He was not only my Group Chairman
He was my friend and confidante
Our conversations were without borders.

We were deeply conversational on every subject matter any time we met and I’m left marveled at the nature of his brain because whenever we discussed business Mr Khubchadani was able give specific figures and monetary value of business transactions without reference to any record over many years ….all from memory.

I cannot truly finish this story because I have so much to recount but when a huge tree falls there’s so much work to do therefore I take a break here just for now.

I have lost a Friend
I have lost a Confidante
I have lost my Group Chairman
A man who believed in Ghana and challenged himself to invest in its human and material resources for development and fruitful and productive living for the benefit of all its citizens.

CHAIRMAN BHAGWAN RAMCHAND KHUBCHANDANI
You have Come
You have played your Part
You have done your Best
You have Conquered
You deserve a good Rest
Your Soul Is At Rest
REST IN PEACE
