The Member of Parliament for the Mfantseman Constituency in the Central Region, Dr. Ebenezer Prince Arhin, has constructed and commissioned a modern health facility for residents of Daadaagua, a rural community in the Anomabo Traditional Area, as part of efforts to improve healthcare delivery.

The project, which fulfills a key campaign promise by the MP, was completed within his first year in office. The facility is fully furnished with modern medical equipment to enhance healthcare services for the people. It also comes with accommodation for staff, ensuring 24-hour services.

The initiative was undertaken by Dr. Arhin with support from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Arhin explained that the decision to site the facility at Daadaagua was aimed at ensuring quality healthcare across the Constituency. He emphasised that residents in rural communities deserve the same standard of healthcare as those in urban centres, stressing that no part of the constituency should be left behind in development.

“This project is a fulfillment of a promise I made to the good people of Mfantseman, and I am committed to ensuring that quality healthcare is accessible to every community, regardless of its location.

“The decision to site this facility at Daadaagua was deliberate—to ensure that our brothers and sisters in rural areas receive the same standard of healthcare as those in urban centres. Development must be inclusive,” Dr. Arhin explained.

He expressed his profound gratitude to the Church for their support, noting that their partnership and belief in his vision made the project a reality.

Dr. Arhin further reiterated his commitment to promoting sustainable development in the Mfantseman Constituency, adding that the health facility is one of several development projects being undertaken across the area to improve the living conditions of constituents.

On his part, Elder Isaac K. Morrison explained that the Church’s decision to partner the MP on the project was inspired by the example of Jesus Christ’s life on earth, which emphasised service and compassion.

He noted that the Church and its donors are not driven by recognition or praise, but by the desire to make a meaningful impact on lives. He further urged all stakeholders and members of the community to maintain the facility to ensure it serves its intended purpose.

“The leadership of our Church has taught us not to engage in humanitarian work for recognition, but to serve because Jesus Christ did the same when He came into the world. One thing that will make us truly happy is to see this facility properly maintained so that it will last and continue to serve the people for many years,” the Second Counsellor stated.

The Central Regional Deputy Health Director in charge of Clinical and Health Services, Dr Agnes Achaah, who represented her boss at the ceremony, noted that the facility would play a crucial role in helping residents achieve universal health coverage, a key pillar of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She urged community members to patronise the facility and cautioned against bypassing it to seek healthcare elsewhere.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Eric Stanley Acquah, expressed admiration for the Dr. Arhin, for his commitment to the development of the constituency. He emphasised that the project was neither funded by the assembly nor the government, but was solely an initiative of the MP aimed at improving the welfare of the people.

“This is not an assembly project; it is the MP’s own initiative. When we were campaigning for the seat in 2024, he outlined his agenda—JESH: Jobs, Education, Sanitation, and Health. Today, he is fulfilling the health aspect,” the MCE stated.

The Paramount Chief of Anomabo, Kantamanto Amoanu XII, expressed his delight at the development, stating, “We are very happy to witness the establishment of this health facility in our traditional area. This is a significant step towards improving the well-being of our people.”

He commended the MP for his commitment, adding, “I urge the Member of Parliament to continue the good work, as such initiatives bring real development to our communities.”

Touching on other pressing needs, he appealed for support to address the community’s water challenges, saying, “Water remains a major problem for our people. I humbly appeal to the MP and the Municipal Chief Executive to work together to find a lasting solution to this crisis.”

The new facility is expected to significantly improve access to healthcare and reduce the burden on residents who previously had to travel long distances to access medical services in Anomabo, Saltpond, or Cape Coast.
