Minister Lauded For Bringing Together Bimbilla Factions To Meet Togbe Sri

Togbe Sri and Salifu Saeed

Residents from Bimbilla in the Northern region have praised the Northern Regional Minister , Salifu Saeed, for the effort he made in bringing together the Dasana and Nakpa Naa families to meet Togbe Sri in Tamale.

Earlier, the family of the late Bimbilla-Naa, Andani Dasana Abdulai, declined to be part of the Togbe Sri mediation process.

According to the family, unless the killers of the late Bimbilla Naa who were ‘walking freely’ in the township were arrested and prosecuted, the family will continue to disassociate itself from the mediation process.

Mr. Salifu Saeed have been described as a peace broker who successfully played a fundamental role in the performance of the funeral of the late two overlords of Dagbon and subsequently the Enskinment of a new Ya-Naa, Abukari Mahama II.

The Enskinment of a new Ya-Naa brought peace back to Dagbon , something that residents thought was never possible.

The people of Nanung have appealed to the minister to replicate that same commitment for the Dagbon peace process to that of the Bimbilla mediation process for lasting peace in the area.

Salifu Saeed at the meeting between the two factions and Togbe Sri made it known that the verdict of the Supreme Court in the Bimbilla Chieftaincy dispute will be respected.

He also assured both factions that he would be neutral during the process, adding that the final decision of the mediation is solely in the hands of the mediator.

The Awoamefia of the Anlo State, Togbe Sri Ill, praised the Nanung as peace loving people and assured that he would do everything within his powers to resolve the Chieftaincy dispute.

He pleaded with Chiefs in Bimbilla to cooperate with him to ensure that there was lasting solution to the Chieftaincy dispute.

Togbe Sri III assured both factions that he would not allow any person or groups to interfere or influence the mediation process.

“Peace is my target and that’s what we are all looking for in the process and I can tell you that I will not allow myself to be influenced,” he said.

Both the Dasana and Nakpa Naa factions assured Togbe Sri III of their total cooperation and support to ensure that the process was successful.

DGN Online gathered that after the performance of the funeral of the late Bimbilla Naa, it will be the turn of the Banyili family.
