THE DEPUTY Minister of Education, John Ntim Fordjour, recently launched the MTN Bright scholarship Reloaded at the MTN house in Accra.

He assured Ghanaians of Government’s commitment to providing the required frameworks in the educational system to prepare the youth for a better future.

The minister lauded MTN for the intervention and said it would go a long way to ease the burden on parents and guardians of the students who were putting in all their efforts to complete their tertiary education in spite of the hardships they were facing.

He said “MTN Ghana Foundation’s investment in the MTN Bright Scholarship Reloaded Programme is timely stating that aside from impacting the beneficiaries and Ghanaians, it will also complement Government’s educational agenda.

He indicated that Government, in its quest towards sustainable economic development, has not only invested in the education of its citizens but has ensured that it makes adequate investment in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education.

Selorm Adadevoh, CEO of MTN Ghana, speaking at the launch, said “investment in education remains critical to the MTN Ghana Foundation because we believe that access to education is a must have in ending extreme poverty. It is the most fundamental source of hope, and the most guaranteed path for us all to improve our lives in a sustainable way.”

According to the CEO, Bright Scholarship reloaded is an enhancement of the first package of the MTN Bright Scholarship scheme that was launched in fulfillment of a commitment MTN made to Ghanaians during the commemoration of its 20th Anniversary in 2016.

He stated that the first package promised to award 300 scholarships over a three-year period to needy and brilliant students in public tertiary institutions.

He said but for the intervention of the scholarship, many brilliant and needy students would have been denied tertiary education due to financial difficulties facing them.

Dr. Paulina Boadiwaa Mensah, one of the beneficiaries, who graduated from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, thanked MTN Foundation for the support to be able to complete Tertiary education.
