Miss Ghana Foundation (MGF), in partnership with the National Blood Service, Ghana (NBSG) organised a voluntary blood drive donation exercise at the Odorgonno Senior High School, Accra.

The activity mobilised 110 units of blood to stock the National Blood Bank.

This forms part of ambassadorial duties of the Miss Ghana Foundation and its ambassadors to organise voluntary blood drive at least once every quarter to increase blood stock at the National Blood Service.

The exercise saw MGF brand ambassadors like Miss Ghana 2019 Rebecca Kwabi and her runner-up Deborah Opoku Sarfo, along aside Mr. Ghana 2018 Bright Ofori participating in the blood donation exercise. The students came in their numbers to voluntarily donate blood.

The ambassadors appealed to individuals, corporate Ghana and institutions to support blood donation programmes.

“As a nation, we experience perennial shortage of blood at the National Blood Bank and other regional hospitals due to inadequate numbers of voluntary donors. Hence making blood donation a culture will go a long way to help stock the blood bank,” Rebecca Kwabi said.

All the donors were educated before the process of donating. They were also refreshed right after the process and went away with lovely packages. Special chocolate drinks were also served to donors to mark the Valentine’s Day (Chocolate Day).

The blood drive was proudly supported by the National Blood Service, Ghana, Bel Aqua, Bel Beverages, Dolait Ghana and Nasci Foods.
