Mobile Money Vendor Killed In Robbery Attack

A 39-year-old mobile money vendor at Adabraka was killed in a robbery attack on Monday, August 20, 2018, in the night.

The deceased, Promise Dayi aka Atsu, was shot in the right side of his chest by the armed robbers in the process of forcibly collecting his daily sales from him.

An eyewitness account indicated that the armed robbers were riding an unregistered motorbike and masked.

They took away an unspecified amount of money from the deceased amidst sporadic shootings.

Promise Dayi was later rushed to the Ridge Hospital by other traders after the armed robbers had escaped but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Confirming the story to DAILY GUIDE, deputy Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Victor Dosoo, said the deceased had his shop opposite the Iran Clinic between Adabraka and Nkrumah Circle.

He said police were informed after the attack around 7:30pm and when personnel visited the scene, they discovered 2BB empty cartridges, 2 jackets, a hat, a cap, and a pair of slippers.

“The scene has been cordoned off pending the arrival of crime scene experts but the body of the deceased has been kept at the morgue of the health facility for preservation and autopsy,” he disclosed.
