MOH To Investigate Fourth Estate’s Ridge Hospital Report

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has announced plans to probe into an investigative report published by the Fourth Estate on the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, popularly known as Ridge Hospital.

In a press release signed by the Spokesperson and Head of Health Training Institutions, Tony Goodman, the ministry stated that it has taken notice of an investigative report published by the Fourth Estate on Ridge Hospital, circulating on social media.

“The Ministry of Health has taken note of an investigative report published by the Fourth Estate media house, on the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, Ridge, which has since been circulated widely on various social media platforms,” it stated.

It highlighted the ministry’s concern about the revelations contained in the report and considers the issue serious and deserving a thorough examination.

It stated, “We are, however, deeply concerned and surprised by some of the revelations contained in the report. In view of this, the ministry considers the issue serious and deserving a thorough examination.”

According to the ministry, it is in the process of consulting an investigative committee to look into the matter, stating that the committee is expected to submit its report within 14 working days.

The ministry also expressed sympathy with patients and relatives who were subjected to any form of unprofessional conduct in any health facility in the country.

“The Ministry sympathises with patients and relatives who may have been subjected to any form of unprofessional conduct in any health facility across the country,” it stressed.

The MOH assured the public of its commitment to reduce the stress and financial burden on patients when accessing healthcare.

“Government remains committed to reducing the stress and financial burden patients face in accessing healthcare,” it stated.

The ministry has called on parties involved to cooperate fully with investigations to ensure accountability and improve service delivery in the health sector.

“The ministry expects the full cooperation of all relevant stakeholders, including the Fourth Estate, to help unravel the facts and provide additional details necessary to ensure accountability and improve service delivery within our health system,” it added.
