Monalisa Abigail Semeha, otherwise known as Mona Gucci in the entertainment industry, has been brought before an Accra Circuit Court on charges of alleged visa fraud.
The accused, a Travel Consultant, is accused of taking GHS103,400 from a trader under the false pretense of securing United States of America visas for her clients but ultimately failing to do so.
Charged with defrauding by false pretense, Mona Gucci pleaded not guilty during the court proceedings presided over by Isaac Addo.
According to GNA, the court granted her bail in the sum of GHS200,000 with one surety, and her next appearance is scheduled for December 11, 2023.
The complainant, Comfort Obiri, a trader residing in Ofankor, allegedly sought Mona Gucci’s services in February 2019 after being introduced by an individual named Esther. According to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Seth Frimpong, Mona Gucci, in her capacity as a travel consultant, assured Madam Obiri that she could secure USA visas for her and three other individuals at a cost of GHS40,000 each.
Despite collecting GHS103,400 from the complainant and the introduced individuals, Mona Gucci reportedly failed to fulfill her promise of securing the visas.
The accused allegedly pledged a refund, which, according to the prosecution, did not materialize.
