Member of Parliament for the Okaikwei Central, Patrick Yaw Boamah has cautioned the youth against holding out for jobs that may never materialize.

He encouraged the youth to investigate opportunities in Information Communication Technology (ICT) and skills development in many areas, highlighting that not everyone can pursue professions such as teachers or doctors.

He emphasized the wide range of options found on the internet and stressed the importance of developing skills across a variety of economic sectors for one’s advancement.

The MP urged young people without jobs to enroll in skill-training programmes to improve their employability.

Speaking at a ceremony to present certificates to 29 participants in a digital skills training program run by the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) in association with Ghana Digital Centers Limited, the MP emphasized that having digital skills opens up new avenues for earning money, pointing out that one can work in ICT-related side gigs while pursuing a profession in sectors like medicine.

He, however, urged the recipients to act as advocates for comparable national initiatives.

He complimented Madam Kosi Yankey, the CEO of Ghana Enterprise Agency (GEA), for helping unemployed youngsters in the constituency and thanked President Akufo-Addo for starting the digital training program.
