MTN Gives To X’mas Babies

Thirty mothers who were delivered of babies on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at some hospitals in the Ashanti Region had unexpected presents from MTN Ghana.

The Christmas hampers, which contained diapers, blankets, wipes, shawls, towels, bibs, clothes, toiletries and other baby essentials, were distributed to mothers delivered of babies at the KNUST, Manhyia and Ejisu Government Hospitals.

The gifts were meant to put smiles on the faces of mums and their newborn babies, as well as brighter lives in line with MTN’s corporate social responsibility and mission.

Stephen Asare, MTN Mobile Money Implementation Manager for the Northern Ghana, said the donation is an annual ritual performed by MTN to give Christmas presents to newborn babies at various hospitals across the country.

Mr. Asare explained that the company chose a gift that was more likely to surprise and put smile on the faces of the recipients during the festive season.

The recipients expressed gratitude to MTN for the kind gesture and prayed for God’s mercy and protection for the company.

Rita Donkor, one of the beneficiaries, said, “It’s amazing to hold my baby and the gift from MTN alongside. It’s been unexpected and I feel delighted by this.”

Ernestina Safo, a midwife at the Ejisu Government Hospital, also thanked MTN and appealed to the company to furnish the theatre at the maternity block put up by the company about five years ago.
