A scene from the launch
MultiChoice Ghana has launched four new simplified and affordable DStv packages, in what the company describes as an evolution of the DStv brand, not just a restructuring.
Speaking at the launch of the new packages, the Country CEO and Managing Director of MultiChoice Ghana, Alex Okyere, said the company had listened to its customers. “Our customers have spoken, and we have listened. We are coming with new packs, just four simplified packs, very affordable. If I tell you the prices, you will be amazed,” he said.
The Four New Packs MultiChoice is moving from its old six packages – Access, Family, Compact, Compact Plus, Premium and… – to four new packs: Starter, Select, Sports and Ultimate. Starter – GH¢50 per month, the entry pack has 90 channels and is aimed at every household in Ghana.
It includes Akwaaba Magic, Premier League Match of the Week, Cartoon Network, M-Net Movies Legends, a new channel called Kickoff, and 100% of La Liga – including El Clásico matches between Real Madrid and Barcelona.
“Our dream is that every home in Ghana will have DStv in their houses, and everybody should be able to afford the Starter pack, which is just GH¢50,” Mr. Okyere said.
Previously, customers on Access paid GH¢98. From November 5, they will get more content for GH¢50. Select – GH¢100 per month, Select has 123 channels and builds on Starter with additional channels including CNN, Zee World, PSL and more movie channels.
It brings M-Net Movies Plus, with the biggest movies from around the world within a year of cinema release, M-Net Movies Stars, with award-winning Indian movies eight months earlier than before, and M-Net Movies Legends.
Previously, Family subscribers paid GH¢188. They will now pay GH¢100 for even more content. Sports – GH¢250 per month, The Sports pack carries 100% of all football on DStv – Premier League, Champions League, Europa League, La Liga, Serie A and more. Previously, customers had to subscribe to Compact Plus to get all football. Now, all football is on Sports for GH¢250.
Ultimate – GH¢570 per month. Ultimate replaces Premium and carries all DStv content, including premium sports like Formula 1, MotoGP, golf, rugby and tennis. Premium currently costs GH¢854. Customers now get the same content for GH¢570. Mr. Okyere said the decision was taken to reach more Ghanaians who had not been able to afford DStv.
